About myself and Health and PE.
What about ME?
I am Andrew Fisher and have experience in many different sports and in many different countries and cultures.I consider myself fortunate to have had so many great an interesting experiences in my life.
I have lived, learnt and enjoyed life and sports and had a few injuries along the way, some not so serious and some quite bad.
These have not dampened my desire to be active and live life and try new and interesting things but some have slowed it down a touch. Risk and reward go hand in hand in a lot of endevours and this is something that life teaches and we must embrace.
I began playing sports at a young age because that is what was expected of me, my Father and Brothers were keen sportsmen in Rowing and Rugby so it seemed natural to follow their lead. I began with the usual schoolyard rugby, cricket and anything else little boys liked to do. As I got older, about 10 or 11 I started to have a great desire to play soccer and played that with the support of my family till about 3 years ago. With some sucess.
Water has always been a big part of my family life, having lived near beaches and the water for most of my life in Gisborne and Ohope Beach and a time near to the St Lawrence Seaway in Ontario. Water sports, fishing and just being around water have been a big part of my life.
As I boy I really wanted a BMX but alas I did not get one, so I improvised and stripped my little bike to have a makeshift one, used with great joy. As an adult I took up mountainbiking and trying new and different things, some with a level of risk that gives a sense of euphoria and elation that is hard to describe.
Life
is a challenge and this is a factor that the children need to know and
that confronting some of these challenges and fears is a positive in
ones life.
Thank you
